Hy-Vee Readies for Second Wisconsin Wahlburgers

Hy-Vee Inc. announced today that it will open up another Wahlburgers restaurant franchise in Milwaukee, Wis. The new location will be the second in Wisconsin and is set to open later this summer at The Corners of Brookfield.

The second Wahlburgers will be a 5,300-square-foot space at 322 N. Broadway in Milwaukee’s Historic Third Ward, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as the city’s oldest center of commerce and warehousing. It was also the site of Milwaukee’s most devastating fire (in 1892) and one of its most remarkable rebuilding efforts, which has since given rise to more than 500 businesses as Milwaukee’s showcase mixed-use district.

Along with signature burgers, Wahlburgers' eateries boast made-from-scratch recipes and home-style sides, as well as fish, chicken and vegetarian options, plus a full bar that will include specialty drinks such as adult frappes and floats.

Chef Paul Wahlberg created the franchise along with his two brothers, actors Mark and Donnie Wahlberg, in 2011, with the aim of  providing hardy meals for burger lovers along with lighter menu offerings in a casual atmosphere.

Hy-Vee announced plans in 2017 to build, own and operate 26 Wahlburgers restaurants. The first three Hy-Vee Wahlburgers locations opened in 2018 at Mall of America in Bloomington, Minn.; West Des Moines, Iowa; and Olathe, Kan. Wahlburgers currently operates 29 locations in 19 states and Canada.

The West Des Moines, Iowa-based Hy-Vee offers Wahlburgers-branded menu items in its full-service Hy-Vee Market Grille restaurants in the Des Moines and Minneapolis markets. The 245-store regional retailer has also been a sponsor of the “Wahlburgers” reality TV series on the A&E network, which chronicles the brothers and the restaurant franchise.
