Kroger Makes Moves in Michigan

The Kroger Co. revealed its plans to invest $97 million in the Michigan market this year, which will include building two new stores and three new fuel centers with 11 remodels in the works. 

A new Kroger store will be built in Warren and a Kroger Marketplace is slated for Sterling Heights. The retailer will also add Kroger Pickup to 20 Michigan stores.

The new investments represent Kroger's "ongoing commitment to Michigan customers," company officials said in a press release, and also reconfirm the partnership with Kroger associates and the "Michigan companies and agricultural producers who supply our stores with high-quality products.” 

Additionally, one of two Kroger stores located across the street from each other in Dearborn will be closing "due to financial reasons," according to the Detroit Free Press. 

“The store has been losing money for some time and we do have a store across the street we are looking to serve all our consumers at," Rachel Hurst, corporate affairs manager for Kroger of Michigan told the Detroit Free Press.
