If there is any doubt whether shoppers at Market Basket stores are excited about the March 11 opening of its new store in Hanover Mass, take a look at customer reactions on the grocer’s corporate TwitterFacebook and Instagram accounts.

The Tewksbury, Mass.-based operator’s new store is located at 1775 Washington St. in Hanover. The store is part of a residential and retail complex at the site of the old Hanover Mall on Washington Street.

With the company's More For Your Dollar slogan given the hashtag treatment, Market Basket posted on its Facebook site that the “shelves are stocked and the floors are polished!”  The grocer’s signature VCT flooring, vinyl composite tile, is a fan favorite for this Northeastern grocer, the company said—a brand signature along with value and service.

Earlier this year, market analyst Dunnhumby reported in its fifth annual Retailer Preference Index (RPI) that Market Basket moved up from No. 6 in 2020 to No. 3 for 2021. Market Basket ranked above Trader Joe’s, which fell four spots from No. 3 in the 2020 index to No. 7 in 2021

The new store will feature Market Basket’s signature departments as well as a Market’s Kitchen, Market’s Café and a butcher block. Store hours are Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Founded in 1917, Market Basket, which added a digital presence in 2017—late compared to other grocery retailers’ online presence—now operates 87 stores. The retailer is known for high-volume stores, service and low prices.
