New Las Vegas El Super offers fresh salsas, ceviches and more
The new 43,000-square-foot store, located at 2475 E. Tropicana Ave., features a wide variety of Latin American brands and an in-house bakery with fresh pastries, breads and tortillas.
El Super, a California-based grocery chain that caters to Hispanic shoppers, opened a new store in Las Vegas Wednesday, the grocer announced.
The new 43,000-square-foot store, located at 2475 E. Tropicana Ave., features a wide variety of Latin American brands and an in-house bakery with fresh pastries, breads and tortillas. The bakery also offers pan dulce that can be customized for birthdays and other special events, the company said.
El Super operates 64 locations in California, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas. The grocery chain is owned by Chedraui USA, which operates 377 stores under three banners, including Smart & Final and Fiesta Mart.
The new Las Vegas location is the first of five new stores Chedraui plans to open—two El Supers and three Smart & Final stores—this year, the company announced in May. The next El Super is planned for San Ysidro, California, and the new Smart & Final locations are planned for the California cities of Madera, Lompoc and Lancaster. Chedraui also announced in May that it plans to remodel 40 of its existing locations but did not specify which.
The new El Super store also includes full-service meat and seafood departments with fresh meat, pork, poultry, fish, shellfish and other specialty items. The store’s deli cheese counter offers a variety of specialty items prepared in the store, such as salsas, ceviches and aguachiles.
Shoppers can also enjoy premade dishes from the in-store, quick-service Pepe’s Kitchen, which features a variety of meals, snacks and treats made in the store, the grocer said.
The store is staffed up with approximately 120 employees and is open daily from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.
“We can't wait to welcome our customers and provide them with an exceptional shopping experience at El Super,“ said Store Director Gonzalo Enriquez in a statement. “With El Super’s commitment to offering the lowest prices possible while offering excellent service and a focus on meeting the diverse needs of our community, we are confident that this new location will become a go-to destination for fresh produce, exceptional meats, delicious bakery items and much more."
As part of its grand-opening day, the grocer held a ribbon-cutting ceremony and made a $1,500 donation to Las Vegas-based nonprofit Project 150, which provides services for homeless, displaced and disadvantaged high school students.
