Publix opens new store in Lutz, Florida

Employee-owned grocery chain Publix Super Markets on Thursday opened its newest store in Lutz, Florida.

The 46,791-square-foot store will be located at the Livingston Marketplace at 2801 E. County Line Rd. and features an adjacent Publix Liquors, the fast-growing Florida retailer said.

“We are excited to bring another Publix location to our customers in Lutz,” said Hannah Herring, Publix media relations manager, in a statement. “We look forward to welcoming new and existing customers and providing them with premier service and quality products.”

The Publix stores offer departments for grocery, dairy, frozen food, seafood, meat and produce, as well as a full-service bakery department and pharmacy, the grocer said.

The new store location will also offer contactless pay options and grocery delivery via Instacart and pharmacy delivery.

On Friday, the Florida Recycling Partnership Foundation recognized Publix Super Markets on its list of 2022 Recycling Champions, awarding the company best overall. 

“Publix remains committed to being responsible citizens in our communities, which includes caring for the environment,” said Publix Director of Environmental and Sustainability Programs Michael Hewett in a statement. “We continuously examine processes in our stores, warehouses and offices, looking for additional ways to recycle.”

The company was recognized for its commitment to recycling education, including its plastic bag recycling campaign to educate customers and its internal Green Routine program which encourages associates to make sustainable choices, the grocer said in a statement.

Earlier this month, Publix Super Markets opened four new stores, proving its growth is far from slowing.

Publix is one of the country's largest employee-owned grocers, with more than 240,000 associates on its payroll. The Lakeland, Florida-based grocery retailer operates 1,313 stores in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina, North Carolina and Virginia.
