Publix Super Markets’ new Kissimmee, Florida, location is now open

The employee-owned retailer’s week also included a reporting of strong first quarter earnings.

Publix Super Markets is ending the week on a high note following first quarter earnings, a store opening and more.

On Monday, the employee-owned grocery retailer reported net earnings surged more than 100% in the quarter ended April 1. Net earnings were $1.2 billion during the first quarter, a 100.8% jump from $618 million during the same period in 2022. Earnings per share for the period increased to 37 cents, up from 18 cents in 2022.

“I’m proud of our associates, the owners of Publix, for continuing to make us a leader in our industry and providing a great shopping experience,” said Publix CEO Todd Jones in a statement.

On Tuesday, Publix Pharmacy received the Retail Specialty Pharmacy Patient Choice Award, presented by Zitter Insights, a division of Managed Markets Insights & Technology (MMIT).

“It’s an honor to once again be recognized by our customers and Zitter Insights. This award is a testimony to our team’s incredible dedication to providing premier service to our specialty pharmacy customers,” said Publix VP of Pharmacy Dain Rusk in a statement.

And on Thursday, Publix opened its newest Florida location at Celebration Pointe in Kissimmee. Located at 1725 Future Way, the 48,387 square-foot store offers departments for grocery, dairy, frozen food, seafood, meat and fresh produce, as well as a full-service bakery, deli and pharmacy with a pharmacy drive-thru.


 

“We are excited to open another Publix location for new and existing customers in Kissimmee,” said Hannah Herring, Publix media relations manager, in a statement.

Contactless pay options, grocery delivery via Instacart and pharmacy delivery are all available, as well as centralized pick-up at the front of the store for grocery pick up via online ordering.

The Lakeland, Florida-based grocery retailer continues to expand its grocery space unit count in its home state. Last week, Publix opened its 15th store, in Sarasota, Florida. The grocery retailer now operates over 845 stores in Florida.

Publix operates 1,335 stores in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina, North Carolina and Virginia.
