Raley’s Readies for New Flagship Store Build in Sacramento
Development will be complete and open to public in early 2020. Construction will begin in March with the store opening anticipated in early 2020.

Raley’s Family of Fine Stores is moving forward with the development of its new flagship store and retail center in Sacramento, Calif. Announced in 2016, the development had faced significant delays due to a due to a yearlong neighborhood dispute over noise and aesthetic concerns, but it came to a conditional settlement last year, according to the Sacramento Bee.
Located at the corner of Freeport Boulevard and Wentworth Avenue, the new “state-of-the-art” store will feature fresh grocery items, grab-and-go prepared foods and a full-service deli, sushi and bakery department. West Sacramento, Calif.-based Raley’s said the store will extend the retailer’s vision to “infuse life with health and happiness,” and will tout a vast assortment of natural and organic items.
“With a strong history of serving this neighborhood, we are pleased to provide our customers with an enhanced food shopping experience and a brand-new store,” said Keith Knopf, Raley’s president and CEO, in a statement. “We designed this store with the neighborhood in mind—offering specialized design features, fresh food offerings and personalized customer service.”
The new store will replace Raley’s current Sacramento store, located one block away on Freeport Boulevard, and will serve as the anchor of a shopping center known as The Park, which includes a cluster of smaller buildings with outdoor gathering areas, and an additional 44,000 square feet of retail space available for other shops and restaurants. Several additional tenants have already been confirmed, including Orange Theory Fitness, Pet Food Express, Chase Bank, Supercuts and CAMP 31, a restaurant operated by Moana Restaurant Group. Additional local and regional tenants will be announced at a later date, according to Raley’s statement.
Development, led by Preserve West Capital, is slated to begin at the end of March, beginning with the demolition of the site’s remaining structures and followed by an official groundbreaking May 9. The development is anticipated for completion by early 2020. Raley’s store on Freeport Boulevard will remain open during the transition and construction.
