Roche Bros. Supermarkets’ 70th anniversary is this fall, and to celebrate, the locally owned and family-operated grocer put a price lock on 500 of its most popular items until Nov. 17 to help shoppers tackle higher food prices.

In 1952, brothers Pat and Bud Roche built their business that put community first, investing $25 and mortgaging the family home to open the first Roche Bros. as a single butcher and produce shop in Roslindale, Massachusetts. In 1957, the store expanded its grocery offerings. Today the grocery retailer operates 16 locations across New England.

“Roche Bros. has evolved through the years by listening to our customers and doing our best to meet the needs of the communities we share. We continue to do that 70 years later,” second- generation owner Rick Roche said in a statement. “We realize that as a family-owned business, we have an opportunity to respond to the current challenges families are facing with the rising costs hitting our industry especially hard. Through our Price Lock Promise we hope to help families maintain some control over rising costs, while still accessing the highest quality products.”

Next month, Roche Bros. is bringing back its popular New England Cheese and Food events at several of its grocery locations as part of its anniversary.

Based in Mansfield, Massachusetts, Roche Bros. offers meat, seafood and produce, favorite food brands, full-service catering and home delivery. The grocer also operates Brothers Marketplace, a neighborhood market banner with four locations in Massachusetts, offering customers a one-stop shopping and dining experience with a selected assortment of fresh foods, locally sourced and specialty products, prepared foods and grocery essentials.
