Renovations are complete and now the Save A Lot store in Kevova, West Virginia, is ready to reopen after a fire closed it down for more than a year. The grand re-opening of the location at 1400 Chestnut Street will take place Wednesday.
“We’re delighted that the Kenova Save A Lot is continuing to provide its customers with top-notch service and an upgraded shopping experience with the new store remodel,” said Tim Schroder, chief sales and marketing officer of Save A Lot, in a statement to local media. “(Owner) Jamason Sparks and his team’s investment to upgrade the store will have a profound impact on how customers enjoy the Save A Lot experience while continuing to provide unmatched value and quality.”
It was reported that the store was robbed and intentionally set on fire in late June 2021, according to media reports. Sparks wasn’t able to salvage very much, so most of everything “would have to be brand new” he said. Grocery items that were salvageable, sellable and approved by the health department, he sold in the parking lot of the store at “heavily discounted” prices, according to the Kenova WV Save A Lot Facebook page.
The Kenova Save A Lot store is one of many of the company’s locations to be completely renovated to reflect its new branding, store officials told local media. It is part of Save A Lot’s efforts to modernize its stores. Nearly one-third of Save A Lot stores have been updated, and many more renovations are planned, officials said.
In Kenova, the store will be lighter, brighter, with fresh paint, new décor, flooring and a new open-air ceiling, local reports said.
“We are excited to bring you the savings you’ve been missing," the store's Facebook page said. "See you all soon!” the posting states.
Save A Lot did not immediately respond to a WGB request for further comment.
Save A Lot was founded in 1977 and has approximately 850 stores in 32 states.
