Sprouts Farmers Market, the Phoenix-based grocer recently recognized for its sustainability efforts, is set to host a series of health-focused Facebook livestream events featuring Candice Kumai every Thursday in January at 2 p.m. PST. Viewers can join Kumai, named “The Golden Girl of Wellness” by Elle and Forbes magazines, as she brings her skillset as a classically trained chef and food editor to the series.

“Feeling better and leading a healthier life can begin simply by incorporating delicious, nutrient-rich foods into your everyday meals,” Kumai said in a release. “My recipes and practical tips are informed by the ancient, time-proven rituals of my Japanese culture, and I can’t wait to share my knowledge to help viewers nourish their mind, body and spirit.”

The schedule for the Sprouts Farmers Market Livestream Series with Kumai is as follows:

  • Jan. 6: Wellness Week—Learn how to supplement health goals with essential vitamins.

  • Jan. 13: Clean it Up With Organic—Explore go-to organic swaps and recipes that make the switch a breeze.

  • Jan. 20: Neat-o Keto—Viewers can learn how to fuel their bodies with nutrient-dense, low-carb options and wholesome ingredients.

  • Jan. 27: Put More Plants on Your Plate—Learn plant-based kitchen hacks.

Kumai was recently chosen as one of Arianna Huffington’s Top 20 New Role Models and is a regular culture contributor on The Today Show. A six-time, best-selling author, her latest book "Kintsugi Wellness" was published in 10 different languages, and her upcoming book will be an Audible Original focused on spiritual wellness.

Sprouts, which employs about 35,000 team members and operates more than 360 stores in 23 states nationwide, suffered sales setbacks in 2021. Despite declines, the company is “moving forward,” CEO Jack Sinclair assured investors in November.

The new wellness series with Kumai seems aligned with the company’s goals, as its CEO has previously stated, of focusing on its “fresh differentiation” and “long-term success as a specialty store destination.”

Viewers can download the Sprouts App to view weekly sales corresponding to each week’s livestream topic. Attendees will have the chance to win prize bundles, including copies of Kumai’s latest book, Kintsugi Wellness, and Sprouts gift cards.
