Trader Joe’s is opening a new store in College Park, Maryland, Thursday, the grocer announced this week, adding that it also plans to open a market in Providence, Rhode Island, later this year and another in Draper, Utah, in 2023.

Trader Joe’s did not respond to WGB requests for more information on the store openings, but local media reported that the College Park store will be 11,000 square feet and will feature murals of buildings from the University of Maryland campus and the school’s football stadium in the store.

The College Park Trader Joe’s will not sell alcohol, according to the grocer’s website.

Like all Trader Joe’s stores, the College Park location will feature the retailer’s private-label items, as well as a selection of basics like milk, eggs and produce, and an extensive cheese selection.

No opening date is listed for Trader Joe’s Providence, Rhode Island, store. The new store there will be located near the new Rory’s Market and Kitchen that opened in the city last month.

Trader Joe’s has previously announced a new store coming to Tigard, Oregon, also scheduled to open this year.

The grocer’s fourth Utah store is slated to open next year in Draper. An opening date has not been announced. That store will sell beer, according to the retailer’s website.

Monrovia, California-based Trader Joe’s has opened more than 500 stores across the country since the brand debuted in 1967.

The chain is known for its small-footprint stores packed with private-label items and unique grocery finds.

In recent months, the grocer has also become known for the union push in some of its stores. Two Trader Joe’s stores voted in favor of unionization this summer, and a third has filed union paperwork.
