Mid-Atlantic grocer Weis Markets has enhanced its online experience with the rollout of an upgraded mobile app.

Sunbury, Pennsylvania-based Weis Markets said the updated app brings an overall design refresh that facilitates shopping through Weis 2 Go Online service, including orders for pickup or delivery. Customers also will find smoother navigation, including when they add digital coupons to their Weis Rewards Card.

Also new is a full digital view of Weis Markets’ print circular that enables customers to click through offers and deals and place orders directly, the retailer said. Through mobile access to Weis 2 Go Online, shoppers can access Weis Club discounts and earn reward points as well.

“Weis 2 Go Online ordering via our mobile Weis app is an increasingly important option for many of our customers,” Maria Rizzo, vice president of marketing and advertising at Weis Markets, said in a statement. “Our upgraded mobile app offers customers improved ease of use and navigation when they place their online orders with their smartphones and when adding e-coupons to their Weis Rewards Card.”

Weis Markets noted that current app users who have enabled automatic updates will see the new app version on their device. The grocer’s app is powered by the Mercatus Mobile platform, which grocery e-commerce specialist Mercatus upgraded early this year.

According to Toronto-based Mercatus, the upgraded mobile platform was “built from the ground up with the latest mobile innovations” and brings a “completely new architecture” and an “entirely new mobile commerce experience” for grocers and their customers. Highlights include seamless cart building and checkout, personalization, rewards and loyalty, and integration with third-party fulfillment such as Instacart Connect and DoorDash Drive.

In addition, a brand-new content management system enables easier updates for retailers’ content feeds, including promotions and offers, private brands, and retail media advertising. Mercatus said a new scroll-style content feed also brings a similar experience as other popular consumer apps, such as Instagram and TikTok.

Overall, Weis Markets operates 197 stores in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, West Virginia and Virginia. Weis 2 Go Online pickup is available via 188 stores, and the grocer offers home delivery through on-demand delivery partners at all of its stores.
