SnapDragon logo in a gray background | SnapDragonSnapDragon apples, grown in New York State and available exclusively from Crunch Time Apple Growers, are debuting at retailers throughout the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic and Southeast regions starting in October. After a successful limited release in 2014, production of SnapDragon apples have grown significantly allowing for expanded marketing efforts to include high graphic bags, bins, in-store demos and social media activities with food bloggers, company officials say. Apple grower and marketing committee chair, Mark Russell remarks, “Apples continue to be one of the most popular fruits – due in part to new varieties that offer shoppers choices.” Russell continues, “SnapDragon apples have received rave reviews from consumers due to their extra sweet flavor and crispy texture thanks to their parent, the popular Honeycrisp. This new variety definitely stands out in the crowd and I absolutely love it!” SnapDragon apples will be available at retail in early October for a limited time and supplies are expected to last 8-12 weeks. Developed by Cornell University, these apples are grown exclusively in New York State by Crunch Time Apple Growers who support Cornell’s continued apple-breeding program.
