Daiya Unveils Frozen Pizza Free of Dairy, Gluten and Soy

Company's First Foray Down the Frozen Food Aisle Maker of dairy-free cheese alternatives, Daiya Foods Inc., is unveiling their first frozen food product: a dairy-free, gluten-free and soy-free frozen pizza. This product provides a solution for those who have been missing out on eating cheese – either by choice or for health reasons – as well as those avoiding gluten and soy, three of the top eight food allergens (according to FoodAllergy.org). “Daiya Pizza marks our first expansion beyond cheese alternatives and into frozen foods, as a direct result from customer feedback,” says Greg Blake, co-founder and CEO. “We look forward to continuing to innovate and bringing our fans more deliciously dairy-free – as well as gluten and soy-free – food options.” Daiya Pizza is made with organic crust and organic pizza sauce (with tomatoes imported from Italy), and gourmet toppings that include roasted vegetables, shitake and crimini mushrooms and fresh basil. There are four flavors available – Cheeze Lover’s, Margherita, Fire-Roasted Vegetable and Mushroom & Roasted Garlic. All Daiya products are free of the top eight food allergens including dairy (casein, whey and lactose), soy – which is common to many other dairy-free cheese alternatives – gluten, eggs, peanuts and tree nuts (excluding coconut). Daiya products are vegan, and have zero mg of cholesterol per serving, no trans fats or preservatives. Daiya is testing the pizza in various regions in late spring and then rolling them out this summer. The suggested retail price is $9.99.
