Hydroponic tomatoes are one of many unique offerings at Price Chopper’s new Market Bistro store.

The tomatoes are grown in-store in nutrient-enriched water without soil, “resulting in beautiful tasting tomatoes that are available all year long,” according to the Price Chopper website.

The just-opened store sources the tomatoes from Vermont Hydroponic, Florence, N.Y.

Other specialty departments in the Latham, N.Y., store include an on-premise meat smokehouse; a growler station; an infused oil and vinegar filling station; and a gluten-free department.

There’s also “Bistro Boulevard,” a section where multiple eateries — including custom burgers, fresh sushi, burritos and stone-fired pizza — are located.
