What’s the best part of your job?
The best part of my job is the ability to be so creative. Every day I’m doing something different and able to give it my own unique spin. For instance, my family and I are huge Disney fans. As we were planning our next visit, I wanted to be able to spread the joy of Disney to others, so I was able to work together with my supplier partners and marketing team to give away a family trip to Disney. My supplier partners are always so willing to work with me and try new and exciting things to help elevate both of our businesses to the next level.
What inspires your leadership approach?
My leadership approach is inspired by great leaders I’ve had the opportunity to work with throughout my career. All of them had the same philosophy of letting those closest to the work be impactful in their own ways. This allowed me to learn new ways to solve problems and grow but also allowed room to make my own mistakes and learn from them. When you empower others to make decisions, you will learn new ways to approach a problem and simultaneously foster the growth of a new leader. It’s a win-win.
What do you cherish most about being a part of the industry?
The people who work in it. I’ve met many people, from both the supplier and retail side of the business—from e-commerce to Fortune 100 company executives to small startup businesses—and every single person has been so accepting and personable. I’ve learned from others and been able to utilize my knowledge to help others. As someone who has worked in other industries, it was like coming home to family when I came back to the retail world.
