KEY CUSTOMER MANAGER ENERGIZER HOLDINGS

What’s the best part of your job?

First and foremost, the best part of my job is working for a company like Energizer. Energizer creates a one-team culture that is passionate about the battery, flashlight and automotive categories. I am lucky enough to work for a company that has innovation in their DNA. Every day is an opportunity to create solutions for our customers.

What inspires your leadership approach?

My approach is about doing the right thing for our customers today and where they will be going in the future. A great quarterback will lead their receiver, and we must do the same for our customers. A quarterback doesn’t throw the ball where the receiver is, he throws it where he is going. As category experts, we must have the solutions for today and more importantly, lead for tomorrow. What inspires me is to listen to the needs of our customers and be ready to pivot. For example, with the challenges we face today with COVID-19, we owe it to our customers to collaborate and understand new shopper behaviors. Just six month ago, we were thinking of how to drive sales within the box and increasing assortment. Today, we are now thinking how we drive sales outside of the box and simplifying our SKUs. There has never been a time in my 30-year career where the business has changed so fast, and we must lead this change. Technology is going to be the foundation of change and success, from Zoom calls with our customers during line reviews to pivoting and developing new digital strategies.

What do you cherish most about being a part of the industry?

What I cherish the most is the people in our business, from the customers to the manufacturers. We are in an industry that is very simple. Meet with the customer, collaborate, come up with solutions and drive sales and profits. As technology changes, one thing will remain constant: people collaborating together to find solutions. The important part of our business is still meeting with the customers to come up with solutions that drive sales and profits for our customers, that will never change. This thing we do in our industry is a marathon not a sprint.
