Brookshire Grocery Truckers Safest in Louisiana

Brookshire Grocery announced that its Monroe, La.-based truck drivers were named the “Safest Fleet” in Louisiana at the Louisiana Motor Transport Association’s annual Truck Driving Championship held recently in Baton Rouge.

TYLER, Texas – Brookshire Grocery here announced that its Monroe, La.-based truck drivers were named the “Safest Fleet” in Louisiana at the Louisiana Motor Transport Association’s annual Truck Driving Championship held recently in Baton Rouge. The award goes to one of 400 companies for the best accident statistics and safety and training programs.

The Monroe truck driving team also won the “Fleet Safety Contest” for its class and took the team trophy for the third consecutive year. Individual winners from Brookshire’s Monroe distribution center included: Tony Hester, grand champion and winner in the flatbed competition; Gary Tyler, second place in the tanker competition; Alan Worster, second place in the 4-axle class; and Dan Pereira, third place in the sleeper class.

Brookshire’s drivers from its Tyler DC had several winners in the recent East Texas Regional Truck Driving Championship as well.

“Throughout the years, our drivers and technicians have earned a reputation of safety and excellence in the transportation and logistics industry,” said Greg Nordyke, senior vice president-corporate development, for Brookshire Grocery, in a statement. “It is especially exciting to see our team from Monroe named the safest fleet in the state of Louisiana.”
