LOS ANGELES — StandWithUs, a locally based Israel-advocacy organization, urged consumers to shop at Trader Joe’s “over the coming days and weeks ... because of its principled and courageous determination to continue selling Israeli products.”

The group said its actions are designed to combat a boycott organized by pro-Palestinian groups against vendors and retailers who sell or distribute Israeli-made products. The boycott was scheduled to focus on Trader Joe’s stores in California over the weekend, but reports said only one Trader Joe’s location, in Rockridge, had “a half-dozen protesters” handing out leaflets in front of the store.

StandWithUs is also asking consumers who shop at other stores to either go out of their way to purchase Israeli products or to thank store personnel for carrying those products.
