United Supermarkets is drawing kids into its rewards program with a new “Kids Club” that focuses on nutrition, the retailer announced.
Perks of the program include a birthday card for a free sweet treat and coupons on party supplies, as well as a free snack-size apple, orange or banana on each shopping trip to eat during the child’s visit.
In stores and in promotional materials, Kids Club participants will find animated characters called Munchsters who teach about healthy eating, kitchen safety, cooking and more. Stores will also host activities such as coloring contests, cooking programs and seasonal events.
At the beginning of the month, United shoppers can earn rewards on kid-friendly items, such as granola bars, juice boxes, fruit snacks and more.
The Kids Club is available at all 66 United Supermarkets, Market Street, Amigos, United Express and Albertsons Market stores in West Texas, Dallas-Fort Worth and New Mexico.
“Taking children to the supermarket is an essential part of family life, and our Kids Club helps make the experience more enjoyable for our guests, as well as their kids,” Robin Cash, loyalty marketing manager for The United Family, said in a press release. “The program creates an atmosphere that is educational and provides an entertaining and interactive element that children will really enjoy.”
