Grocery price wars continued this week with Walgreens’ announcement on Wednesday that it is discounting more than 1,300 products.

The pharmacy chain also plans to hold its myW Days member event in mid-July for those who participate in Walgreens’ loyalty program. Last year, those deals included bonus offers, personalized deals, and Walgreens Cash rewards.

“Walgreens understands our customers are under financial strain and struggle to purchase everyday essentials. We continue to be committed to our customers by lowering prices on over a thousand additional items, something we’ve been doing since October of 2023,” Tracey Brown, EVP, president, retail and chief customer officer for Walgreens, said in a press release. “Through myWalgreens loyalty program, our more than 110 million members receive personalized offerings daily.”

The massive sale comes on the heels of similar sales from Target, which announced on May 20 that it was cutting prices on about 1,500 items; Aldi, which is discounting more than 250 items; and Amazon Fresh, which is dropping prices on some 4,000 items.

Meanwhile, Walmart is offering discounts through its Bettergoods private-label brand, which the company launched in late April. The new brand features around 300 grocery products that range in cost between $2 and $15.
