Appletizeme: what's your apple personality?

There’s something so cool about biting into an apple. It’s the only fruit that I can think of that can be used as dramatic punctuation. Take Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter series, for instance. photo 1Apples have all sorts of associations – a perfect present for a teacher, you can’t compare them to oranges, they don’t fall far from the tree, and you certainly don’t want to upset the cart they’re in – but perhaps the most famous saying is that ‘an apple a day keeps the doctor away.’ And this saying actually has a proven track record – “OSU reports eating one apple a day for four weeks lowered blood levels of oxidized LDL, the 'bad cholesterol,' by 40%.” Since February is American Heart Month right now is the perfect time for people to take a shine to apples. Based on taste alone, I’m a Granny Smith kind of gal, but according to the “Appletizeme” website by the U.S. Apple Association, Marzetti, California Walnuts and Real California Cheese, that doesn’t necessarily reflect my apple personality. With twelve personality types to choose from, I was interested to see what variety they ascribed to me. The verdict? I identified as the “Trendsetter” which means, “You’re an early adopter and pride yourself on being the first to don that trendy hat,” and my apple match is a Honeycrisp. The juicy fruit with a satisfying crunch apparently pairs well with sage and cheddar; you just melt the two together and drizzle them on top – reverse fondue certainly sounds like a trend I’d like to set. Apparently Philanthropists are the Granny Smiths of the group. Oh well, maybe if I eat a Granny Smith a day I’ll become more charitable. Find out your apple personality and let us know in the comments if it matches your personal preference.
