Cans Get You Cooking, a multi-year program of the Can Manufacturers Institute highlighting the benefits of canned foods, is kicking off 2014 with a multi-platform content partnership with Scripps Networks Interactive’s, Food Network and Cooking Channel.

The centerpiece of the partnership is a half-hour television special, Cans Make the Meal with Kelsey Nixon, presented by Cans Get You Cooking and airing 11 times on Cooking Channel throughout February, National Canned Food Month.  Nixon, the Emmy Award-nominated host of Kelsey’s Essentials, takes the viewer through quality, nutritious, homemade meals featuring canned ingredients. In the special, Kelsey heads out to the grocery store to share her secrets about the essential canned foods to always have in any pantry. Then it's back to her kitchen to prepare recipes for every meal of the day, including a hearty Crust-less Quiche; a light and fresh Artichoke and Bean Salad with Tuna; a Mexican take on chicken stew, Chicken Pozole with Hominy; and for a sweet finish, Kelsey's Peaches and Cream Cheesecakes Bars.

Cans Make the Meal with Kelsey Nixon premieres on Cooking Channel this Saturday, February 8 at 10:00 AM eastern/9:00 AM central time.

Three, 30-second short form, promotional spots edited from the show’s content will air in commercial time on both Food Network and Cooking Channel over a two-month period.  The Cans Get You Cooking partnership extends online, where following the TV premiere, Cans Make the Meal with Kelsey Nixon will be available for anyone to view as a full episode on CookingChannelTV.com and in shorter, cut down versions on FoodNetwork.com without subscription to either channel required. Short form video will also be available on Cooking Channel’s Video On Demand platform.  Additionally, for a three-month period, Cans Get You Cooking will serve as the exclusive sponsor of the popular Cooking from the Pantry section on FoodNetwork.com, as well as Kelsey’s Essential’s online home at CookingChannelTV.com.

“At Cans Get You Cooking, we’re on a mission to help consumers to achieve success in their relentless quest to get a delicious, nutritious, homemade meal on the table for their family, day in and day out, without compromise,” said CMI President, Robert Budway. “We’re pleased to be speaking to millions of these consumers regarding the role of canned foods in achieving that success through the information, inspiration and broad reach that Kelsey Nixon and Scripps Networks provide.”
