Dr. Schar Opens Gluten-free Food Facility in US

Dr. Schar USA has opened a $15m gluten-free food manufacturing facility in the US. The new site marks the company’s first facility in the US. According to the company, the new facility expands its reach to the growing celiac and gluten-free consumers. The 60,000-foot facility, located in Swedesboro, N.J., will produce Schar's baked goods such as Classic and Multigrain Ciabatta Parbaked rolls and baguettes, Hearty White Frozen Bread and Hearty Grain Frozen Bread. Dr. Schar USA president and COO Donna L George said the facility will help accelerate the growth and availability of innovative gluten-free foods in grocery, natural and specialty stores as well as restaurants and other food outlets across the country. "Our vision is for the Schar brand to be the U.S. market leader in gluten-free foods and innovation and New Jersey is a perfect location to support our national distribution and growth," George added. The new production site is projected to create more than 50 new jobs and help fuel the state's local economy. Dr. Schar USA is a subsidiary of Dr. Schar, which offers a range of gluten-free food products in Europe. Dr. Schar is headquartered in Burgstall, Italy.
