Genuardi Taps Produce Director

A. Genuardi has been named director of produce for Genuardi Super Markets here.

He succeeds Raymond Taglialatela, who was named director of perishables merchandising.

Genuardi has been with Genuardi's since 1969 and was formerly perishables specialist for Mad Grocer, the company's discount warehouse supermarkets.

Genuardi is now responsible for buying and merchandising of all produce products. He reports to Taglialatela.

Sun World Names Johnson to VP Post

COACHELLA, Calif. -- Sun World International here has named Ted Johnson vice president of southern operations, a new position. He was director of southern operations.

The move will not affect Johnson's duties, which include managing Sun World's six Coachella Valley fruit and vegetable packing operations.

With the vice presidential title, he becomes an officer of the company. Johnson joined Sun World in 1982.

He reports to company president Domenick Bianco. Johnson's former position as director will not be filled.

Pear Board Appoints Director

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- The California Pear Advisory Board here has named Jean-Mari Peltier executive director, a new position.

Formerly president of the California Pear Growers, Peltier will be responsible for coordinating the California Bartlett pear promotion program nationwide, for maintaining federal quality standards, for a promotion for canned fruit cocktail and pear halves, and for accumulating statistical information for the industry.

She reports to Tom Thomas, chairman of the advisory board, and Doug Hemley, the board's vice chairman.

BelleHarvest Taps Marketing VP

BELDING, Mich. -- BelleHarvest Sales, a fruit shipper here, has named Thomas Pletcher vice president of sales and marketing, a new position.

Pletcher will be responsible for the sales and marketing of all the company's domestic and exported products. He joins the company from Green Giant Fresh, Minneapolis, where for three years he was sales development manager.

Florida Citrus Unit Names Marketer

LAKELAND, Fla. -- The Florida Department of Citrus (FDOC) here has named Robert G. Roy director of international marketing. The position had been vacant for a year.

Roy is responsible for planning and directing export marketing programs to increase sales of Florida citrus products in Asia and the Pacific Rim. He will also oversee operations of the department's international marketing business unit.

Roy was executive vice president and chief operating officer of Florida Global Citrus Ltd.

Publicist Named by Produce Group

ALEXANDRIA, Va. -- The National Association of Fresh Produce Processors here has named Maribeth Samenus-Chambers as its publicity liaison, succeeding Patt Paterson, who died in December.

Samenus-Chambers is responsible for the fresh-cut association's quarterly newsletter, news releases for the various trade publications and working with the association to build awareness of fresh-cut potential. For the past three years, Samenus-Chambers was a free-lance journalist. She reports to Robin Sprague, executive director.
