Nabisco Holdings Adds Directors

Holdings Corp. here has named Herman Cain, chairman and chief executive officer of Godfather's Pizza, and David B. Jenkins, former chairman of Shaw's Supermarkets, to two new seats on its board of directors.

From 1979 to 1993 Jenkins served first as president and later as chairman of East Bridgewater, Mass.-based Shaw's. He is also a director of J. Sainsbury International, Shaw's British parent.

Cain joined Pillsbury Co., Minneapolis, in 1977, and held several managerial positions before being named president of Pillsbury's Godfather's Pizza subsidiary in 1986. He returned the division to profitability in less than a year. In 1988, he became chairman and CEO of Godfather's and led a senior management buyout of the chain.

Nabisco's other board members are John T. Chain Jr., executive vice president of Burlington Northern Railroad; Kay Koplovitz, chairman and CEO of USA Networks; John G. Medlin Jr., chairman of Wachovia Corp.; H. John Greeniaus, president and CEO of Nabisco, and Charles M. Harper, chairman of Nabisco.

Western Family Taps Group VP

TIGARD, Ore. -- Western Family Foods here has named Charlie Rotta group vice president, a new position.

Rotta had been a product manager at Western Family since 1988. Prior to joining Western Family he was a buyer-merchandiser with Ralphs Grocery Co., Compton, Calif., for 17 years.

Western Family has also named Dewey Angell to the new position of product manager. Angell has worked in a variety of areas of the food business since 1982, and joins Western Family from Associated Food Stores, Pocatello, Idaho.

Rotta and Angell report to Dave Hayden, vice president of sales.

Western Family Foods is a private-label company that distributes more than 7,000 products in 23 states under the Western Family and Shurfine brands.

Pepperidge Farm Names President

CAMDEN, N.J. -- Dale F. Morrison, a former Frito-Lay executive, has been named president of Pepperidge Farm, a subsidiary of Campbell Soup Co. here.

Morrison was president of Frito-Lay North and Hostess Frito-Lay Canada, units of Pepsico Inc., Purchase, N.Y. He succeeds Charles V. McCarthy, who resigned after 24 years with Campbell.

In addition, Morrison was elected a corporate vice president of Campbell. He reports to Frank E. Weise, president of Campbell's $2 billion global Bakery & Confectionery division. Pepperidge Farm is that division's largest unit.
