Big V Taps Fisher As President, CEO

Fisher joined Big V in 1992 as vice president of store operations. Since 1994, he has been executive vice president and chief operating officer. Bronstein retains his title of chairman and will work as a consultant to the 32-store chain.

Giant Names Store Operations VP

LANDOVER, Md. -- Giant Food here has named James L. Frazetti Sr. vice president, food store operations.

Frazetti fills a post that had been vacant for nearly a year. He will be responsible for supervising all activities related to food operations in Giant's 162 stores.

He has been with the company since 1972, most recently as zone director overseeing seven of the chain's 14 districts. In his new post, he reports to Alvin Dobbin, senior vice president of operations.

Wilkes Joins C&S As VP, Controller

BRATTLEBORO, Vt. -- C&S Wholesale Grocers here has named Duane Wilkes vice president and corporate controller, a new position.

Wilkes most recently was vice president, controller, for Big V Supermarkets, Florida, N.Y. Prior to that, he had a 22-year stint with Oakland, Calif.-based Safeway's mid-Atlantic division. In his new post, he reports to William Hamlin, senior vice president and chief financial officer.

Byerly's Fills Retail Operations Slot

EDINA, Minn. -- Byerly's here has named Douglas Stansbury vice president of retail operations.

Stansbury fills a position that had been vacant for some time. In his new post, he reports to Dale Riley, chief operating officer.

Prior to joining Byerly's, Stansbury worked for 26 years at Dominick's Finer Foods, Northlake, Ill. For the last six years, he was director of operations for that company's northern and western regions.

Moody Named to Staples Board

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. -- James L. Moody Jr., chairman of Hannaford Bros., Scarborough, Maine, has been named to the board of directors for Staples here.

Moody's career at Hannaford spans 36 years. He joined the company as controller and moved into positions including vice president of corporate development, president and chief operating officer and president and chief executive officer before becoming chairman.

He has been a director for the Penobscot Shoe Co., UNUM Corp., The Mutual Funds of the Colonial Group of Funds and IDEXX Laboratories, all Maine-based companies.

Moody has also been chairman of the Food Marketing Institute, Washington, and a variety of Maine civic associations.

Parton Elected to Foodarama Board

FREEHOLD, N.J. -- Foodarama Supermarkets here has elected Charles T. Parton to its board of directors. He will serve a one-year term.

Parton is the principal of The Parton Corp., a financial planning and consulting company based in Rumson, N.J. Prior to developing his own business, he worked for First Fidelity Bank N.A., Newark, N.J., and Midlantic Bank N.A., Edison, N.J.

He currently serves as a trustee of Monmouth University and a trustee of the Monmouth Council, Boy Scouts of America, both in Monmouth, N.J.

Foodarama, a member of the retailer-owned Wakefern Food Corp. cooperative, operates 18 ShopRite stores in New Jersey.
