Patrick Sylvester was named vice president of marketing, a new position. He most recently served as director of the IGA brand. In his new post, Sylvester continues to direct the association's private label but he also oversees other marketing programs within IGA. He joined IGA in 1984 as an assistant packaging buyer.

Sylvester reports to Larry Willis, executive vice president and chief operating officer of IGA.

Tim Considine is now charged with developing and marketing IGA brand packaging, also a new position. After working for IGA for five years as a product manager, Considine left the association two years ago to run his own business but recently rejoined IGA. He reports to Sylvester.

Red Apple Names Senior VP

NEW YORK -- Red Apple Cos. supermarkets group here has named Al Feraldi senior executive vice president, a new position. Feraldi is responsible for directing all store operations, including security. He remains in charge of all perishable departments and of City Produce, the company's wholesale produce operation. Feraldi was executive vice president of perishables. He had been responsible for store operations for several months prior to obtaining his new title. He reports to John Catsimatidis, chairman and chief executive officer of Red Apple. Red Apple operates 13 publicly held supermarkets and 42 privately held stores here.

Gooding's Taps Executive VP, GM

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. -- Gooding's Supermarkets here has filled two new positions.

Russell Doerk was named executive vice president of Gooding's Supermarkets Inc. and president of Gooding's Warehouse Inc. He is responsible for the company's warehouse in Apopka, Fla. He reports to Michael Cianciarulo, president and chief operating officer of Gooding's Supermarkets. Doerk has been with the chain for three years, most recently as vice president of marketing.

Dave Davidson was named general manager of Gooding's Warehouse Inc. A 26-year company veteran, he was most recently responsible for managing all of the chain's distribution activities. He reports to Doerk.

AG-New England Adds Post

MANCHESTER, N.H. -- Associated Grocers of New England has named Kurt Oesch director of produce, a new position.

He reports to Richard Ennis, executive vice president and treasurer. Oesch was produce manager for Associated Grocers, a position that will not be filled, according to a spokeswoman. Oesch has been with the retailer-owned wholesale food distribution center since 1981.
