AWG Taps Senior And Executive VPs

ed Wholesale Grocers here announced the appointment of two executives.

Gary Phillips was named executive vice president of administration and finance. He is responsible for accounting, information services, treasury and internal auditing.

Phillips is also responsible for Supermarket Insurance Agency/Benchmark Insurance Co., a subsidiary of AWG that provides insurance services to employees and retail members.

Phillips reports to Doug Carolan, chief operating officer of AWG. Phillips was most recently senior vice president and division manager of the Springfield, Mo., division.

Maurice Henry succeeds Phillips, and is responsible for the daily operations of the Springfield division. Henry reports to Tom Williams, executive vice president of division operations. He has been with AWG since 1985; he was most recently vice president of merchandising and marketing for the Kansas City division.

Albertson's Names Unit VPs

BOISE, Idaho -- Albertson's here has named Bob Butler division vice president of the Southern California division. He had been Rocky Mountain division vice president. Butler has been with Albertson's for 23 years. He succeeds Dave Simpson.

David Jerry, who was division vice president of the South Texas division, was named to the same post at the Dallas/Fort Worth division. He succeeds William Emmons.

Both Simpson and Emmons were named senior vice presidents and regional managers of the Boise general office.

Rod Antolock, formerly director of operations for the North Texas division, was named manager of the San Antonio division.

Wayne Denningham, formerly district sales manager of the Southwest division, was named manager of the Rocky Mountain division.

Mike Patton, previously district sales manager of the South Texas division, was named manager of the new Houston division.

Pete Van Helden, formerly manager of special projects at the Boise general office, appointed manager of the Oregon division.

Fleming Adds Buffalo Posts

OKLAHOMA CITY -- Fleming Cos. here announced several management changes in its Buffalo division.

Michael Kuczmarski was appointed to the newly created position of general manager of the division. He is responsible for distribution, accounting, merchandising, warehousing and marketing. He reports to Jim Buchanan, division president.

For the last two years, Kuczmarski had been employed as controller of the Buffalo division.

Jay Cashion was appointed manager of accounting and administration. He reports to Kuczmarski.

For the last five years, Cashion has been employed as the division's wholesale accounting manager.

Diane Wright was named wholesale accounting manager for the Buffalo division. She reports to Cashion.

Wright was most recently employed as a staff accountant for Fleming.
