TROY, Mich. -- Donald Perkins, former Kmart chairman, has resigned as a director of Kmart here to become a director of a Kmart supplier.

Hall was named chairman, president and chief executive.

Perkins left to become a director of Springs Industries, a Fort Mills, S.C., maker of fabrics and home furnishings. He couldn't have remained on Kmart's board, because Springs is one of its suppliers, a Kmart spokeswoman said.
