Giant already has plans for three more Super Gs in Pennsylvania next year. Units are slated to open in Lower Makefield in May 1997, in Lower Providence in August 1997 and in Warminster next fall, which would give Giant 12 Delaware Valley units.
Last week, Giant said it aims to open another dozen Super G units in the region. So far, it has signed deals for five sites in Pennsylvania (Valley Forge, King of Prussia, East Norristown, Granite Run and Franklin Mills) and two sites in New Jersey (Cherry Hill and Deptford). The planned Cherry Hill, N.J., unit would be Giant's third Super G there. A Giant spokesman said last week that, so far, the only location with a projected opening date is East Norristown, Pa., slated to open in November 1997.
The new stores are part of a 10-year plan by Giant to open 30 to 40 Super G units in the Delaware Valley area, which the 170-store chain has targeted as a key expansion market. The region's first Super G opened in Bear, Del., in 1994.
