WESTBURY, N.Y. -- Lifetime Hoan Corp., a supplier of kitchen gadgets and utensils here, has purchased the upscale Hoffritz cutlery brand name, with plans to distribute the line to major department and specialty stores. Milton Cohen, Hoan's chairman, told SN the Hoffritz line, which includes cutlery and cutting boards with items priced between $10 to several hundred dollars, is "just too high for supermarkets to carry." He said Hoffritz products have been sold through mall-based retail outlets. These outlets will keep the Hoffritz name on their stores until Jan. 31, 1996. Liftime Hoan, which also distributes licensed housewares to supermarkets, plans to manufacture about 300 products under the Hoffritz name, which also will be sold through mail order catalogs, added Cohen.
