FRANKLIN PARK, Ill. -- Kason Market Products, a manufacturer of oak and laminate fixtures for the supermarket bakery, produce and floral departments, has opened a new distribution center here.

Kason's two manufacturing locations in Chicago. The design center-showroom, which opened this month, has three computer-aided-design stations at which CAD operators can produce 3-D drawings to assist customers in laying out in-store departments. Customers can also see actual fixtures moved into different configurations.

"The design center at 70 feet by 38 feet simulates the shape and size of a bakery in a large supermarket. We could lay out a complete bakery, in full scale, using actual fixtures," said John Cannan, Kason Market Products' president. Cannon added that the move to a new, larger facility, situated just two miles from Chicago's O'Hare airport, was necessitated by a "tremendous increase in business" over the last year and a half.

Kason Market Products, which has international distribution, is a subsidiary of Kason Industries, Shenandoah, Ga.
