Kings Food Markets Joins the Transition to Cage-Free Eggs

Kings Food Markets has committed to transition its Kings Own shell and liquid eggs to 100 percent cage-free by the end of 2016, as well as 100 percent of its shell and liquid egg supply by 2025.

Kings Food Markets will transition to cage-free eggs, joining a a growing group of food retailers, restaurant chains and food manufacturers with plans to source only cage-free eggs. 

Kings Food Markets has committed to transition its Kings Own shell and liquid eggs to 100 percent cage-free by the end of 2016, as well as 100 percent of its shell and liquid egg supply by 2025.

“We pride ourselves on being a leader in cage-free egg offerings in our marketplace," says Judy Spires, chairman and CEO of Kings Food Markets. "In fact, 50 percent of our shell egg sales are cage-free. We are taking this commitment even further as plans have been underway to transition our private label offering to 100% cage free by the end of 2016, as well as 100 percent of our shell and liquid egg supply by 2025.” 

Kings Food Markets joins retailers like Walmart, Meijer, Raley's, Weis Markets, Ingles Markets, Bashas’ Supermarkets, Supervalu and Kroger who have made the commitment to cage-free egg supplies.
