Made exclusively from fresh gold potatoes, it is the first entry into the refrigerated mashed potato category. The Mashed Butter Gold Potatoes are made with potatoes harvested from Colorado’s fertile San Luis Valley, adding another option to the already popular refrigerated potato category where sales volumes have more than tripled in the past ten years, say company officials. Ready to serve in less than five minutes, the all-natural product was developed to target busy families on the go looking for a great-tasting mashed potato that is quick and easy to prepare, says John Pope, MountainKing’s vice president of sales & marketing. “The natural, buttery flavor and smooth texture of fresh Gold potatoes helps reduce the amount of milk and butter required to add to the product,” he adds. “It’s perfect for today’s grab-and-go shopper.” Besides its ease of preparation, MountainKing’s Mashed Butter Gold Potatoes are lower in calories (140), fat (4g) and sodium (330mg) per serving than others in the category, say officials, adding that they are high in Potassium, Beta Carotene and Vitamin C. With a suggested retail price of $3.49 - $3.99, MountainKing’s all-natural Mashed Butter Gold Potatoes are packaged in 24-ounce units providing for 5-6 servings per package. With a shelf life of 45 days, the product is packed six to a case for merchandising in refrigerated aisles, deli and produce sections.
