NFFA Adds 3 NFFM Coordinators
xt year's National Frozen Food Month promotion in March, the National Frozen Food Association here has appointed a new national coordinator and two new regional coordinators.
Mark Werner, eastern zone sales manager with Gorton's, Gloucester, Mass., was named national coordinator for the NFFM Retail Committee. He will direct the activities of the committee as well as the NFFM campaign.
Werner replaces Mark Hannay, who served on the committee as a coordinator for several years and recently accepted a position with Catalina Marketing.
Tom Carr, vice president of broker sales for Kraft Foods, White Plains, N.Y., was appointed regional coordinator for the Northeast. Don Stevens, director of customer marketing for Pillsbury/Green Giant Vegetables, Minneapolis, was named regional coordinator for the Southeast. The regional coordinators meet several times a year to help plan the NFFM promotion and address other association issues.
Jack & Jill Ice Cream Expands Line
BENSALEM, Pa. -- Jack & Jill Ice Cream here has added a chocolate candy center ice cream bar and a frozen yogurt bar to its ice cream and novelty line.
The Chunkster features a milk-chocolate center covered by vanilla ice cream that's encased in a crispy, milk-chocolate flavored coating. The bar is 3 fluid ounces and comes in a 24-pack. Pop Culture, a vanilla frozen-yogurt bar, has a raspberry sorbet covering and is 2.75 fluid ounces. It also comes in a 24-pack.
Turkey Hill's 'Whoopie Pie' Debuts
CONESTOGA, Pa. -- Turkey Hill Dairy here has introduced whoopie pie ice cream -- a new feature flavor of premium ice cream for the fall months.
Turkey Hill developed the new flavor from local Lancaster County recipes for whoopie pies, a variety of homemade soft sandwich cookies with cream fillings. Turkey Hill's new flavor tastes like a devil's food chocolate cake whoopie pie with vanilla cream filling. It is packaged in a Pennsylvania Dutch-style plastic half-gallon container.
Whoopie Pie is being introduced as a Turkey Hill Feature Flavor and began appearing on store shelves in late September. It joins the lineup of other Pennsylvania Dutch Premium Ice Cream flavors from Turkey Hill, including Chocolate Pretzel, Shoofly Pie, Brown Cow and Dutch Neapolitan.
Turkey Hill Dairy is a division of Dillon Cos., Hutchinson, Kan. Its products are sold throughout the Northeast.
