Produce for Better Health Foundation (PBH) continued its support of supermarket dietitians and supermarkets by hosting a small group of dietitians, from small chain and independent retailers, at the 2015 National Grocers Association (NGA) Expo, February 8-10 in Las Vegas, Nev. The program included: Complimentary attendance at all NGA breakfast sessions and workshops, networking dinners with PBH staff members and members of PBH’s Board of Trustees, as well as time spent on the expo floor, which included visiting the booths of PBH donors and supporters. Elizabeth Pivonka, president and CEO of PBH, also moderated a session focused on why dietitians are good for supermarkets. Dietitians from the following supermarkets were involved in the inaugural program at NGA:

  • Giant Food

  • Harmons Grocery Store

  • Lunds and Byerlys

  • Niemann Foods/County Market

  • Redner’s Markets

  • ShopRite

“It was very exciting for PBH to bring the first group of supermarket dietitians from small chains and independents to the NGA Expo,” says Pivonka. “The program was quite successful for PBH, NGA, and the small group of dietitians. We’re looking forward to building upon the successes and learnings from this year for the 2015 program.”
