Regional grocer Weis Markets has rolled out its Weis 2 Go online grocery pickup and home delivery service to another 61 stores.

With the expansion, the program is currently offered at 150 of the Sunbury, Pa.-based supermarket chain’s 200 stores in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, Virginia and West Virginia.

“Over the past two years, we have steadily expanded and upgraded our Weis 2 Go online ordering service, which offers a more seamless shopping experience through mobile ordering on the Weis app and online at WeisMarkets.com,” Chief Operating Officer Kurt Schertle said in a statement. “Weis 2 Go continues to offer same-day pickup on orders as well as the savings and rewards of the in-store shopping experience.”

Weis noted that Weis 2 Go orders are hand-picked and packed by the retailer’s trained personal shoppers and then carefully stored to remain fresh until pickup or delivery. Customers pick up online grocery orders at a designated drive-up area after calling a phone number to alert the store of their arrival. With curbside service, they pay through PayPal or at the store.

To order via Weis 2 Go, customers must set up a My Weis account. Orders are placed via the Weis website or mobile app. Weis Preferred Shopper members also can use their card for savings on online orders, as well as to earn rewards on gas and private-brand products, Weis said. The online service also enables shoppers to use paper and digital coupons and to browse the grocer’s weekly electronic circular and add sale items to their virtual carts.

Weis said that, for a limited time, it’s waiving the curbside pickup fee of $4.95. The fee also is waived for Weis 2 Go orders of $100 or more. All delivery orders carry a $10 service charge.

“A growing number of our customers have embraced this service for its convenience, including home delivery at participating stores in as little as one hour,” Schertle added.

Weis also offers Shipt same-day home delivery service through 174 stores. The company began its partnership with the Target Corp. e-commerce subsidiary last September.

During its 2018 fiscal year, Weis saw online sales climb 33.2%, according to Chairman and CEO Jonathan Weis.

“Online ordering is a growing segment of our business that we expect to grow exponentially in the coming years,” Weis told shareholders in late April at the company’s annual meeting in Sunbury.
