PMA Impact Award Winners to be Announced Oct. 27 at Fresh Summit

Finalists in the Produce Marketing Association (PMA) 2012 Impact Award: Excellence in Packaging have been chosen. The winners  will be awarded Saturday, Oct. 27 during the breakfast general session of PMA’s Fresh Summit International Convention & Exposition in Anaheim, Calif., USA. This global award program recognizes companies throughout the supply chain who are maximizing the numerous opportunities to sell more fresh produce and floral through innovative packaging.

A judging panel of packaging experts and produce industry veterans awards points based on a set of five criteria: marketing, food safety, supply chain efficiency/functionality, sustainability and consumer convenience. This year’s judges include: Bridget Bennett, category manager/produce, Defense Commissary Agency; Kip Martin, produce & floral supervisor, Raley’s Family of Fine Stores; Ron McCormick, senior director of local and sustainable sourcing, Wal-Mart Stores, Inc.; Pamela Riemenschneider, editor of Vance Publishing’s Produce Retailer and retail editor for The Packer; and Dr. Bob Whitaker, PMA chief science and technology officer.
