PLEASANTON, Calif. -- Safeway here said Quentin Reynolds, the company's former chairman, president and chief executive officer, died after a long illness. He was 93.

President Lyndon Johnson appointed Reynolds to the 16-member executive board of the National Alliance of Businessmen. Reynolds was also a regent of St. Mary's College, Moraga, Calif., where he was alumnus of the year in 1967.
