COMPTON, Calif. -- At the end of this week, Ralphs Grocery Co. here is scheduled to complete a plan to lay off about 1,000 employees, or roughly 3.8% of its 26,000-member work force.The layoffs, announced last week, will affect mostly part-time employees, and no further layoffs are anticipated "at this time," the company reported.
