Ridley’s Family Markets to add prescription delivery
Service to roll out to most stores by the end of July
Ridley’s Family Markets this month plans to launch on-demand prescription drug delivery for customers in Utah and Idaho.
Plans call for the Jerome, Idaho-based food and drug chain to initially offer the service at two stores in Eagle Mountain and Highland, Utah, and then roll it out to another 22 locations in Idaho later in July, according to Nimble Rx, the retailer’s technology partner for the program.
Through the service, customers will be able to order, pay for and schedule delivery of prescriptions directly through Nimble’s website or mobile app. Home delivery costs $4.50 or more, depending on selected shipping method, which includes same-day, next day or two-day service.
The launch marks the first time that Ridley’s will offer an on-demand service for pharmaceutical delivery, Nimble Rx reported.
“We’re always looking to find innovative and convenient ways to meet the needs of our customers, especially as technology and mobility accelerates,” Todd Wise, director of pharmacy operations at Ridley’s, said in a statement. “We identified Nimble as an ideal partner, as they have built a proven platform that painlessly integrates into our business and will be extremely easy for our customers to adopt.”
Drugs that Ridley’s pharmacy patients can have delivered include common prescription medicines and specialty medications. After receiving the prescription from Ridley’s, Nimble Rx fills it and then contacts the patient to schedule delivery. Nimble Rx said its delivery team ensures secure delivery within the requested time frame. Patients also can view and manage their current prescriptions via Nimble Rx’s website and app.
“Ridley's community-first approach goes hand-in-hand with Nimble's mission of enabling local pharmacies to adapt to fast-evolving technology and customer tastes,” said Talha Sattar, CEO of Redwood City, Calif.-based Nimble. “Our goal is to provide an accessible pharmacy delivery service in communities large and small.”
Overall, Ridley’s Family Markets has 28 grocery and pharmacy locations in Colorado, Idaho, Nevada, Utah and Wyoming.
The chain also offers Ridley’s At Home, an online grocery service powered by the Rosie e-commerce platform. Delivery costs $7.99 and is available at 15 stores, while in-store pickup costs $1.99 and is offered at all stores. Both options carry a $75 order minimum, though store pickup is free with an order of $150 or more. Ridley’s launched its online grocery program in 2017.
