Sam’s Club starts same-day delivery with Instacart
Austin, Dallas and St. Louis are first Sam’s Club locations to roll out on-demand grocery delivery service
Sam’s Club, Walmart’s warehouse bulk shopping division, is introducing same-day delivery of groceries and other products through a new partnership with the tech-driven delivery service Instacart.
Beginning with Sam’s Club locations in Austin, Dallas-Fort Worth and St. Louis, shoppers can now make their purchases through samsclub.com/instacart and have them delivered straight to their doorstep by Instacart in as little as an hour. Nearly all of Sam's Club offerings will be available with the service, including grocery items, everyday goods, and exclusive, premium-quality Member’s Mark products and small appliances.
After the initial rollout, the partnership will expand to Sam’s Clubs throughout the U.S. later in the year.
“We know our members love our mix of exciting items, and appreciate it when we make life a little easier for them,” said Sachin Padwal, Sam’s Club’s vice president of Omnichannel and In-Club Product. “Whether it’s Scan & Go, Club Pickup — and now delivery in as little as an hour — shopping with Sam’s Club is getting easier and more convenient, and we’re just getting started.”
Instacart customers will have the option to shop local Sam's Clubs without a membership, giving them access to Sam’s Club’s signature savings and bulk shopping options, paired with the convenience of same-day delivery. Sam's Club members will save their membership number in the loyalty card section to receive membership rewards and lower, member-only pricing on items.
The new partnership is the latest move in Walmart’s efforts to increase Sam’s Club’s e-commerce presence, following the recent announcement that Sam’s Club Premium Plus members are eligible for free shipping on items purchased online. The company also announced it would turn some of the 60 store locations it closed in January into e-commerce distribution warehouses.
