LAS VEGAS -- Retail clerks and meatcutters here in Local 711 of the United Food and Commercial Workers Union have voted overwhelmingly to approve new three-year contracts with four area chains. The contracts cover 3,500 employees at 62 local outlets of Albertson's, Boise, Idaho; Lucky Stores, Dublin, Calif.; Smith's Food & Drug Centers, Salt Lake City, and Vons Cos., Arcadia, Calif. It marked the first time the local chains have negotiated separately rather than through a management consortium, although all four accepted identical contracts.
