Whole Foods slashes prices as Amazon takes over

Reductions of up to 43% on some items; gadgets hit sales floor

Day one of Whole Foods Markets’ Amazon era dawned with price reductions on certain items of up to 43%, according to a check conducted by SN in New York early Monday at the Bryant Park location. Amazon announced it would reduce prices last week to coincide with the closing of the $13.7 billion deal to take over the retailer, which was also scheduled on Monday.
