Sam’s Club goes chainwide with pickup
All locations now offer both click-and-collect and delivery
Sam’s Club has rolled out its Same Day Club Pickup service to its 589 locations nationwide.
The Walmart warehouse club chain said Tuesday that all members who place orders for groceries, general merchandise and other products through SamsClub.com or the Sam’s Club mobile app can now pick up their orders the same day. The service had been piloted at select clubs for about a year.
Same Day Club Pickup is free. Orders can be picked up within four hours or less and are limited to 15 items. There is no minimum dollar amount. Members receive a text or email message when their order is ready.
Once at their local Sam’s Club, customers check in via the mobile app or a text message to notify the store of their arrival. Depending on the location, members pick up their order in-store or enter a drive-through lane or park in a designated space and have their items brought out to them and loaded into their vehicle. In-store pickup is available at all clubs.
Products available for club pickup include packaged groceries, fresh foods like produce and meat, frozen foods, case meats, paper goods, alcohol, health and beauty aids, household supplies, baby needs, office supplies, electronics, grills, patio furniture, playground equipment and mattresses.
Pickup hours are after 10 a.m. Monday to Friday and after 9 a.m. on Saturday. Sam’s Club Plus members get access to early pickup hours and can schedule their pickup between 7 a.m. and 10 a.m. Monday to Friday.
“Same Day Pickup is just one of the many ways we are making shopping at Sam’s Club more convenient for our members,” Sam’s Club spokesperson Amy Wyatt-Moore said in a statement. “We began testing Same Day Club Pickup last summer and received great feedback from our members, so we are excited to be able to rollout this service to members across the country.”
With the rollout, all U.S. Sam’s Club locations now offer pickup and delivery service. In late June, Sam’s announced that it had expanded same-day grocery delivery through Instacart across its store base. The wholesale club began piloting Instacart grocery delivery in the Austin, Dallas-Fort Worth and St. Louis markets in late February 2018 and then, after successful tests in those markets plus San Diego and Los Angeles, extended the service to nearly 350 of its clubs by the end of October.
Also last month, Sam’s introduced online ordering and delivery of beer, wine and liquor via Instacart through over 200 of its clubs in more than 10 states. Alcohol delivery is expected to get under way at more clubs in the coming months, Bentonville, Ark.-based Sam’s said. States where the service is offered include Florida, California and Missouri, among others.
