The certification coincides with the company’s debut of a fan-anticipated flavor – habañero.  “This ‘seal of approval’ simply takes our commitment to better ingredients to the next level.  It shows our fans that we truly walk the walk when it comes to keeping our chickpea snacks clean, simple and deliciously crunchy,” says Poorvi Patodia, founder and CEO of Biena Foods. “Biena Chickpeas are a much better alternative to the standard chips and nuts that are out there.” Biena Foods also introduces its newest flavor: Habañero. Fans spoke out loud and clear that they wanted a spicier chickpea crunch to add to their snacking repertoire, and this new member of the family gives them a blend of real habañero chili with a hint of lemon. With only 130 calories per serving, 5 grams of protein and 24% of daily fiber, Habañero Roasted Chickpeas provide a satisfying snack without the guilt, company officials say. The flavorful Biena Chickpea Snacks line—which is great for people with food allergies—also includes Honey Roasted, Cinnamon Maple, Barbeque and Sea Salt. All Biena snacks are non-GMO, gluten-free and packed with protein and fiber, say officials, adding that they also have 55% less fat than traditional chips.
