Meijer Installs Drug Take-Back Kiosks

Meijer is launching a new drug take-back program that allows customers to safely dispose of unused or expired prescription drugs, including opioids, at in-store kiosks for no cost. 

The kiosks will be available in the pharmacy sections of all 241 Meijer supercenters across the Midwest, where pharmacists will work in partnership with Inmar Rx Returns to properly document, transport and dispose of medications. 

Jason Beauch, VP of Meijer Pharmacy, said the new take-back program, which is among the first in the industry, will allow Meijer customers to "remove the risk of an unforeseen accident occurring with expired or unused medications, while enabling them to properly dispose prescription drugs and reducing the possibility of creating a public health hazard.”

The Meijer Drug Take-Back Program complies with the rules and safety guidelines established by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and HIPAA privacy laws.
