Meijer said yesterday it will carry pet health insurance from PetFirst Healthcare, Jeffersonville, Ind., in 100 of its stores.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Meijer Inc. here said yesterday it will carry pet health insurance from PetFirst Healthcare, Jeffersonville, Ind., in 100 of its stores. Sold via cards displayed on freestanding kiosks the retailer’s pet departments, PetFirst insurance covers routine care and medical procedures for dogs and cats. "Our pet department has evolved through the years to provide our customers with the wide variety of offerings demanded by today's ‘pet parents,’” said Greg Hill, pet department buyer for Meijer. “Adding PetFirst allows us to expand the one-stop shopping experience for our customers with pets.” Meijer is the third major retailer to align with PetFirst this year, following Kroger Co., Cincinnati, and Spartan Stores, Grand Rapids.
