Plum Organics has debuted its Grow Well Organic Infant Formula. Plum's Organic Infant Formula uses organic lactose as its only carbohydrate rather than the industry standard of adding corn syrup solids, according to company officials. The culmination of over five years of research, Plum's Organic Infant Formula is USDA Certified Organic, made with organic plant-based oils, organic nonfat milk and organic whey protein, and does not contain genetically engineered ingredients.

"In the first year of life, babies are developing at a rapid pace," says Risa Schulman, PhD, functional food expert and a member of Plum's Wellness Advisory Panel. "Lactose is the most abundant carbohydrate found in breast milk, and is one of the key sources of fuel for baby's growth. For moms who may not be able to produce adequate milk, or are choosing to combo feed, having a formula with quality ingredients is important and brings peace of mind."

Plum's Organic Infant Formula was created by a passionate team of parents at Plum, most of whom have personally experienced the challenges and complications of feeding a new baby. Partnering with ingredient experts and food scientists, the team aimed to develop a better organic option for early infant feeding—one they could feel good about serving the little ones in their own lives.

"As a working mom who intended to exclusively breastfeed, I remember how anxious I felt when I couldn't produce enough milk and had to turn to formula. That's why this launch is personal for me," says Larissa Friesen, Plum's infant formula lead. "At the time, there weren't a lot of organic options out there that I felt comfortable feeding my son. Many parents think of formula as medicinal and clinical, but formula is food – cow's milk is the primary ingredient. As the leading organic baby food company, we're uniquely positioned to create a high-quality organic formula that parents, including us, can feel comfortable feeding their tiny ones."

Plum's Organic Infant Formula contains: milk from cows not treated with rBST; organic lactose as the only source of carbohydrates—no corn syrup solids added; no genetically engineered ingredients; DHA & ARA; Kosher dairy; and no gluten.

Plum's Grow Well Organic Infant Formula will roll out nationally in select retailers in the coming months, including Target, Whole Foods, Babies R Us, buybuy BABY, Sprouts, Wegman's, HEB, Meijer and additional retailers at a suggested retail price of $32.99 per tub.
